Generator Operator & Driver (CDL-Class A) Broadcast and Special Events

Summary

Illumination Dynamics, Inc. (ID), is a leading supplier of Lighting, Grip, Trucks and Generators to the Motion Picture, Television and Commercial Industries as well as Automated Lighting to the Television and Corporate Events and Portable Redundant Power to Live Sports Broadcast and Special Events.

ID is looking for a Generator Operator and CDL Class A Driver for our Broadcast and Special Events with 3+ years’ in road driving and 2+ years’ in Diesel Generator and Electrical Distribution experience and possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic. This role will be located in our Charlotte, NC office.

This full time position will be required to work on the road as well as in the warehouse, performing the duties and responsibilities listed below. Primary job is to oversee Generator power for live events mostly in the Sports Broadcast Industry. Over the road interstate travel is required and at times for several weeks in a row. The position requires working alone on jobs sites with the client as a single representative of the company. The Generator Tech/CDL Driver is required to perform their duties and complete their jobs at the expected level of performance required by ID.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Driver Responsibilities: Full understanding of all current CDL laws. Includes daily vehicle inspection reports. Maintaining accurate driver log book. Individual mileage reports. Making sure the vehicle is current on service intervals. Properly and safely securing all loads in or on the vehicle... Keeping track and logging all expenses via expense report. Maintaining an accurate weekly time card. Random DOT drug screening.
  • Generator Technician Responsibilities: Following all ID procedures as laid out in the Broadcast Generator Tech Handbook. Includes generator knowledge in parallel and non-parallel set ups. Maintaining all generator log sheets to include operation log, monitor sheet, and Generator fuel logs. Working with office personnel prior to events for the scheduling of fuel deliveries. Communicating with ID personnel to trouble shoot potential issues. Performing minor repairs in the field per instruction from ID personnel. Performing regular scheduled generator maintenance. Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clientele.
  • To be considered you must possess the following skills/abilities:

  • Working knowledge of generators and diesel engines.
  • Available to work prolonged hours and be on the road for extended time periods.
  • Willing to travel via commercial airlines as business needs require.
  • Must maintain a valid CDL Driver’s License with clean MVR..
  • Must pass background check, DOT Drug & Alcohol screening test and pass prior Employment and Safety verifications per DOT requirements.
  • Working knowledge of paralleling generators and redundant power systems.
  • Good electrical and electronic knowledge including AC & DC power, generators and ability to analyze problems and assist with repairs.
  • Working knowledge of complete mechanical operation of vehicles and ability to make minor repair.
  • Working knowledge of rental equipment terminology and application as it applies
  • to the Motion Picture, Broadcast and Special Event Industries. Prior Broadcast knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge in the use of personal computers and related company software applications.
  • Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work seated driving for long periods at a time in accordance with DOT/CDL laws. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting of up to 100 pounds is required. Proper lifting techniques are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include identifying colors.

    Temporary Shipping and Receiving Associate

    Summary

    ARRI Rental, the premier rental house for professional motion picture Camera and Lighting equipment, is looking for a Temporary Shipping and Receiving Associate to work in our New Jersey office.

    The Temporary Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for the scanning of both inbound and outbound rental assets. Position is also responsible for covering additional aspects of the Shipping and Receiving Department including answering the loading dock bell, organizing and laying out rental packages and processing parcel shipments. Excellent organizational skills and ability to focus are paramount. Also responsible for maintenance of the checkout floor, loading dock and warehouse.

    We seek a highly-organized individual with a working knowledge of rental/warehousing software. The right candidate must possess a willingness to learn and adhere to shipping and receiving protocol and processes, and have some knowledge of shipping methods used in the industry. Experience in inventory control preferred. Knowledge of 16mm, 35mm and digital motion picture cameras and accessories a plus, as well as knowledge of rental software, processes, clients and contract structure.

    High-school diploma or equivalent required and Driver’s license with clean driving record required.

    Main areas of responsibilities for this full-time role include:

  • Offer exceptional customer service to both the external and internal client.
  • Work with team members to insure the loading dock bell is attended to at all times during business hours.
  • Insure equipment is loaded in the shipping and receiving department in accordance with department protocol.
  • Layout, Scan and verify equipment has returned for a particular contract.
  • Work with shipping and receiving coordinator to insure missing reports are generated and accurate when scan is completed.
  • Insure equipment is transferred to the service department in a timely manner within company protocol.
  • Layout, Scan and verify outbound equipment packages in accordance with departmental protocol.
  • If needed, assist with equipment deliveries to other branches or vendors by driving company vehicle.
  • Perform shipment processing including counting, packaging, weighing and labeling of materials.
  • Complete assigned regular duties relating to operations of the shipping and receiving department, checkout floor, Loading dock and warehouse on a daily basis.
  • Participate in daily meetings to review workload for current and upcoming jobs as well as internal projects.

    Service Support Technician

    Summary

    This position is a quality control position, which entails the identification, inspection, assessment, operation and preparation of professional motion picture equipment and accessories. The ideal candidate will also provide additional support to the Service Department as directed by the Service Department Manager, to facilitate expedient customer service and maintain equipment to ARRI Rental’s performance standards.

    Main areas of responsibilities for this full-time role include:

  • Facilitate internal quality control and inventory organization on equipment and accessories.
  • Inspect, assess, clean and store all rental equipment in accordance with established guidelines and “Quick Service” procedures.
  • Organize and return all incoming equipment to its established rental ready configuration.
  • Initiate and assign “Full Service” tickets to appropriate service groups when the equipment requires action that is outside the scope of established “Quick Service” procedures.
  • Participate in new and current equipment demos and workshops.
  • Facilitate M+D reporting to Service Manager and assistant Service Manager.
  • Fulfill surplus duties as directed by the Service Department Manager.

    Operations Manager

    Summary

    ARRI Rental, the premier rental house for professional motion picture Camera and Lighting equipment, is looking for an Operations Manager to work in our brand new Burbank, California office.

    The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of facility and rental operations from order placement to invoicing.

    This is a critical role within our group that interacts with most departments and most importantly is an ambassador to our customers, ensuring that their needs are met. Superior leadership skills are necessary to succeed in this role.

    We seek a highly-motivated, customer-service driven, strategic thinker with 5+ years of Operations and Managerial experience in our industry or one closely related (film equipment rental, production, film equipment sales, etc..). A Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or related field experience required.

    Main areas of responsibilities for this full-time role include:

  • Manage all areas of the facility and rental operation to ensure client needs are met.
  • Work with our Marketing team to coordinate demos, on-site events and other initiatives to enhance the customer experience at every level.
  • Work closely with our Business Development team to achieve revenue targets.
  • Manage building and property functions including maintenance and repair.
  • Successfully oversee and direct annual physical inventory for the Burbank facility.
  • Empower and develop staff through training initiatives, mentorship and coaching.
