Generator Operator & Driver (CDL-Class A) Broadcast and Special Events

Summary

Illumination Dynamics, Inc. (ID), is a leading supplier of Lighting, Grip, Trucks and Generators to the Motion Picture, Television and Commercial Industries as well as Automated Lighting to the Television and Corporate Events and Portable Redundant Power to Live Sports Broadcast and Special Events.

ID is looking for a Generator Operator and CDL Class A Driver for our Broadcast and Special Events with 3+ years’ in road driving and 2+ years’ in Diesel Generator and Electrical Distribution experience and possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic. This role will be located in our Charlotte, NC office.

This full time position will be required to work on the road as well as in the warehouse, performing the duties and responsibilities listed below. Primary job is to oversee Generator power for live events mostly in the Sports Broadcast Industry. Over the road interstate travel is required and at times for several weeks in a row. The position requires working alone on jobs sites with the client as a single representative of the company. The Generator Tech/CDL Driver is required to perform their duties and complete their jobs at the expected level of performance required by ID.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Driver Responsibilities: Full understanding of all current CDL laws. Includes daily vehicle inspection reports. Maintaining accurate driver log book. Individual mileage reports. Making sure the vehicle is current on service intervals. Properly and safely securing all loads in or on the vehicle... Keeping track and logging all expenses via expense report. Maintaining an accurate weekly time card. Random DOT drug screening.
  • Generator Technician Responsibilities: Following all ID procedures as laid out in the Broadcast Generator Tech Handbook. Includes generator knowledge in parallel and non-parallel set ups. Maintaining all generator log sheets to include operation log, monitor sheet, and Generator fuel logs. Working with office personnel prior to events for the scheduling of fuel deliveries. Communicating with ID personnel to trouble shoot potential issues. Performing minor repairs in the field per instruction from ID personnel. Performing regular scheduled generator maintenance. Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clientele.
  • To be considered you must possess the following skills/abilities:

  • Working knowledge of generators and diesel engines.
  • Available to work prolonged hours and be on the road for extended time periods.
  • Willing to travel via commercial airlines as business needs require.
  • Must maintain a valid CDL Driver’s License with clean MVR..
  • Must pass background check, DOT Drug & Alcohol screening test and pass prior Employment and Safety verifications per DOT requirements.
  • Working knowledge of paralleling generators and redundant power systems.
  • Good electrical and electronic knowledge including AC & DC power, generators and ability to analyze problems and assist with repairs.
  • Working knowledge of complete mechanical operation of vehicles and ability to make minor repair.
  • Working knowledge of rental equipment terminology and application as it applies
  • to the Motion Picture, Broadcast and Special Event Industries. Prior Broadcast knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge in the use of personal computers and related company software applications.
  • Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work seated driving for long periods at a time in accordance with DOT/CDL laws. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting of up to 100 pounds is required. Proper lifting techniques are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include identifying colors.

    Lighting Rental Floor Supervisor

    We seek a creative, self-motivated individual with experience in Lighting and Grip rental equipment, terminology and application along with standards and procedures as they apply to the Motion Picture industry. The Lighting Rental Floor Supervisor will supervise all lighting and grip department shop employees, overseeing and assisting with all orders insuring all equipment is in working condition, clean and ready to rent, paperwork and R2 information is correct and accounted for. Interact with Rental Agents, Supervisors, co-workers and subordinate staff to achieve and meet all requirements of production’s needs, including working with production crews to make sure all their requirements are met.     Main areas of responsibilities for this full-time role include:

  • Oversee prepping of all equipment orders for shows and or sub rental customers.
  • Manage, all related pull lists, add/drop sheets and shortages for orders
  • Assist and manage checking in and out all orders in the computer notifying Rental Agents of any missing, damaged equipment.
  • Work with Rental Agents & Rental Manager to ensure all delivery/pick up information is correct.
  • Make sure all shop staff are working in a productive and safe manner.
  • Handle problem situations and resolve them as they arise.
  • Organize paperwork in accordance with office procedures.

    The Client Contact position is responsible for assisting in generating business by proactively building new client relationships while maintaining our existing client base.   • Communicate client requests and issues to Operations and Service.
  • Ensure paperwork (PO’s, M&D’s, etc.) is in order so that billing occurs in a timely manner.

    We seek someone who is most comfortable in an environment of multi-tasking and problem solving, and who provides strong team leadership. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (we will not consider a Business or Finance degree), at least 7 years’ experience in all aspects of Accounting. We require a minimum of 4 years’ managerial experience in an Accounting setting.

    This role will be responsible for management of the accounting department and will hold treasury and payroll responsibilities. The Accounting Manager serves as a partner for all managers within the organization, advising them of current budgetary information, revenue analysis, and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of month end close, financial reporting, and annual financial audit.

    Prep Technician

    Summary

    ARRI Rental, the premier rental house for professional motion picture Camera and Lighting equipment, is looking for a Prep Technician to work in our Atlanta, GA location.

    The Prep Technician is responsible for providing a positive client experience by offering first-class customer service and technical support. The Prep Tech must ensure equipment is ready, complete and up to QC standards for client preps. This position is responsible for pulling and prepping equipment to be used on jobs and demos, assisting with the customer prep process, scanning equipment for jobs and branch transfers, shipping and receiving of equipment and processing missing and damages. Must be able to cover duties in other departments as needed.

    We seek a positive, client-centric self-starter with a minimum 2 years’ prep experience in the field of camera rental. Solid knowledge of the Digital and Motion Picture Industry required. Knowledge of Digital, 35mm and 16mm motion picture cameras, lenses and accessories necessary. Knowledge of ARRI digital camera, digital cinematography and lighting products preferred. Fluent in the use of motion picture camera equipment and related accessories.

    Main areas of responsibilities for this full-time role include:

  • Exceed customer expectations by offering exceptional customer service.
  • Fulfill customer orders and branch transfers by pulling equipment from the warehouse, arranging it on the prep floor/room and conduct pre-prep to ensure all equipment is complete and in working order.
  • Assist with equipment adds and drops during customer prep. Inform Client Contact of changes
  • Process the shipment of equipment by scanning all items and preparing appropriate shipping documents. Work with Operations Manager to ensure ARRI’s shipping procedures are followed. Review and resolve variances before final shipment.
  • Process equipment returns by scanning equipment from jobs, branch transfers and vendors.
  • Ensure all equipment is accounted for. Create Missing and Damage reports and notify customers and ARRI Rental staff of missing and damaged equipment.
  • Assist in the process of unloading/loading trucks arriving or departing from the warehouse, shipping/receiving, etc.
  • Assist with any equipment deliveries to customers or vendors for repair by driving company vehicle.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Operations Manager.
